Turning the Tables of Hip-Hop™ Summit Needs Volunteers

If you have experience in one or more of the following, want to learn new skills and assist in making a difference in your life and in the lives of youth, come and help with the Pre-Production, Production and/or Post Production of the Summit.

PRE-PRODUCTION (Before the Summit - Starting Now)

  • Media Relations - Pitch stories to media, follow-up with media, schedule interviews, prepare media packages, fine-tune media list. (6)
  • Office Guru - Assist with letters, follow-up, tracking and general office duties. Computer literacy required. (4)
  • Event Marketing - Circulate information about the Summit, follow-up calls to organizations and groups, media assistance. (4)

PRODUCTION (At the Summit - October 30 - November 4, 2002)

  • Workshop Monitor - Confirm meeting room set-up, audio visual set-up, assist presenters, know what should be going on in designated room and assist. (8)
  • Registration Assistant - Assist in checking in registrants, presenters and special guests, distribute information and provide information assistance. (8)
  • Food & Beverage Monitor - Check food and beverage area set-up and be sure all requirements are met. Distribution of package food samples. (8)
  • Office Guru - Assist director and Summit Manager with on-site administrative requirements. Computer literacy required. (6)
  • Presenter/Talent Handler - Meet and greet presenters and talent, assist them with set-up, hospitality and transportation. (6)
  • Hospitality Assistant - General assistance to all Summit Attendees. (8)
  • Expo & Exhibit Assistant - Assist in the management of YPCI booth, assist exhibitors with set-up, check-in and general information and monitor the Expo. (8)
  • Production Assistant - Assist with technical requirements, staging and overall production of special events. (8)
  • Media Relations - assist with media check-in, distribution of media kits, identifying subjects for interviews and event coverage. (8)

POST PRODUCTION (After the Summit - Starting November 5)

  • Media Relations - Follow-up with all media who were on-site to report stories, pitch a follow-up story to media and clip articles. (4)
  • Office Guru - Production of letters, mailing of letters, follow-up as needed. (4)
